Journey North - a project involving school children and citizens that uses adult sightings to track the northward migration of monarchs in the spring. It is directed by Elizabeth Howard. www.learner.org/jnorth

North American Butterfly Association - NABA organizes the national Fourth of July Butterfly Count and publishes American Butterflies magazine and Butterfly Garden News. www.NABA.org

The Monarch Program - an educational public benefit organization. The program objectives include: preserving Monarch breeding and overwintering habitats, monitoring migration of western Monarch populations, educational curricula, promoting and supporting related conservancy issues. Monarch Lab - based at the University of Minnesota, the monarch lab is the lab of Dr. Karen Oberhauser and her students, who study all aspects of monarch biology, especially monarch larvae. www.monarchlab.org

Monarch Watch - based at the University of Kansas, Monarch Watch coordinates a nation-wide citizen science monarch tagging program, whereby volunteers capture and tag monarchs with numbered stickers which are then (hopefully) recovered at their overwintering grounds. www.monarchwatch.org

Monarch Larva Monitoring Project - Also run by Karen Oberhauser, the MLMP is a citizen science program focused on tracking the annual recruitment of monarch larvae in North America. www.MLMP.org
